Jiv Daya Foundation is a private family foundation started by Dr. Vinay Jain and his wife Kanika in 2002. Jiv
Daya is based on the teachings of Jainism and means “Compassion for all living beings”. We provide
targeted grants to improve the quality of Healthcare , Education and support to community for people
around the world. We maintain focus on our primary objective – improving quality of life for those most in
need – we go above and beyond in assisting our grantees. Our grant giving efforts are focused on specific
areas where a measurable impact can be made.
As a direct response to the problem of Malnourishment highlighted in the various published studies
highlighting the disparities between states, Jiv Daya Foundation has put together a framework for action in
Village based intervention and programs. The framework focuses on the most effective way of preventing
and correcting malnourishment in children by provision of Milk. JDF aims to support villages not only to
ensure that children receive adequate daily nourishment through milk, but also to engage in the learning
activities to impact their overall health and wellbeing.
Through extensive research and trials, JDF has concluded that 150 ml of Milk prepared by Amul Spray
powder (Amul) is highly effective in meeting Daily Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for the children
under the age of 5 years. Formula addresses daily requirements for Protein, Carbohydrate and fat but also
has added Micronutrients which are required to encourage steady growth in children. It is locally available,
and taste is acceptable to all the children due to its sweetness. With Education activities we try to engage
children at early age to develop intersects in future education.
